In the classic movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," the heroes are relentlessly pursued by a nameless group of riders determined to bring them to justice. No matter how hard they try, Butch and the Kid can't lose their pursuers for long. Incredulous at the lengths the followers will go, Butch asks, "Who are those guys?"
That's just art imitating life.
God is a relentless pursuer, too. No matter what we may do, we can't get away from Him. Fortunately for us, He intends not to bring us to a justice we deserve, but rather to a salvation we don't deserve!
We may think we've given Him the slip, only to meet someone who seems to be speaking God's words to us. We are usually confused by such an encounter and wonder, "Who are those guys?"
Well...they would not call themselves "God's Messengers," because they're just regular, everyday people. Yet they are unknowingly carrying a message that the Lord wants us to hear. Many people in my life - friends and strangers alike - have carried God's message to me, a message that I may not have initially wanted to hear. The message was delivered either to affirm or adjust the direction I was headed, and inevitably it was a message I needed to hear at that moment.
So be aware that God is on your trail...you can't lose Him, no matter what you do. And He just may pass a message on to you through an unlikely source in an everyday encounter. You may still ask "Who are those guys?" But at least you'll know who sent them!
